It's difficult for a featherweight musical romance to remain light and breezy for 151 minutes, but the disarmingly charming "Kismat Konnection" rarely dawdles long enough for auds to note the passing of time or the padding of plot. One of a handful of recent Bollywood confections to get relatively wide North American release day-and-date with first runs in India, pic could generate word of mouth sufficiently favorable to attract ticketbuyers heretofore unexposed to such fare. Sweetly sincere love story, engaging performances by attractive leads and spirited presentations of peppy production numbers will be major selling points. Read More...

July 21, 2008 (Sawf News) - As Shahid Kapoor floundered through a largely clichéd script and Aziz Mirza's desultory direction of Kismat Konnection, Vidya Balan succeeded in infusing the film with some life, despite delivering an uninspired performance herself; a tribute to her awesome talent.

Kismat Konnection has had a disappointing opening and is likely to be counted as a flop against Balan's name. Someone was not interested in the film but it is difficult to say who because along the way the contagion must have spread to the entire cast, all of whom looked disinterested. Read More...

In one of the gloriously gossamer moments in the film, the 'hero', a harassed working-class entity and the kind of bereft soul you would immediately recognize if you've grown up watching Aziz Mirza's working-class romances, with one of his shoes in hand looks up in the sky and says with a stifled sob, "I give up."

Fortunately God isn't listening when Raj Malhotra wants out. Imagine what we would do if the working-class hero stumbled and fell. Kismat Konnection is one of the sweetest and most endearing romantic comedies in recent times. Read More...
